Machine Control Buttons

Physical pushbuttons below the HMI and when to use them.

08.3 Overview

The i5 tray sealer has physical pushbuttons below the HMI at the front of the machine and the rear of the machine.

Use these buttons for safe machine control.

08.4 Emergency stop

Purpose

  • Stops the machine immediately.

  • Removes power from machine motion.

  • Triggers a safety stop condition on the HMI.

When to use

Use Emergency Stop when there is immediate danger, including:

  • A person is at risk.

  • A guard is open and motion is unsafe.

  • A collision is about to occur.

  • A product jam could damage the machine.

Safety notes

  • Emergency Stop is for emergencies only.

  • Keep clear of moving parts until motion stops.

  • The sealing tool can stay hot after stopping.

Guard interlock interaction

  • Opening a guard also causes a safety stop.

  • Emergency Stop does not override guard interlocks.

  • You cannot restart while any guard is open.

Safe reset sequence

  1. Make the area safe.

  2. Remove the cause of the stop.

  3. Check nobody is inside the guarded area.

  4. Close and latch all guards.

  5. Reset the Emergency Stop.

  6. Acknowledge all alarms on the HMI.

  7. Press System Reset.

08.5 Start

Purpose

  • Starts automatically running.

  • Enables the machine to process trays.

When to use

Press Start when:

  • Setup is complete.

  • Guards are closed.

  • No alarms are active.

  • Trays and film are ready.

Safety notes

  • Keep your hands out of the infeed and seal station.

  • Check that the outfeed is clear.

08.6 Stop

Purpose

  • Stops the machine in a controlled way.

  • Finishes the current cycle where possible.

When to use

Press Stop for normal stops, including:

  • Short pauses in production.

  • Clearing minor issues outside the guards.

  • Waiting for upstream or downstream equipment.

Safety notes

  • Wait for all motion to stop.

  • Isolate power before working inside guards.

08.7 System reset

Purpose

  • Resets the safety circuit after a stop.

  • Clears safety-related alarms.

  • Homes servo axes when required.

When to use

Press System Reset:

  • After power-up.

  • After a guard has been opened.

  • After an Emergency Stop.

  • After clearing a safety fault.

Safety notes

  • Ensure guards are closed before reset.

  • Machine motion can occur during homing.

08.8 Film feed

Purpose

  • Feeds film through the machine.

  • Helps during film loading and threading.

When to use

Use Film Feed:

  • During film loading.

  • After film breaks.

  • When aligning film before production.

Safety notes

  • Keep hands clear of nip rollers.

  • Do not bypass guards for film feeding.

  • Stop the machine before reaching inside.
