01 Machine Overview
01.1 Introduction
The MPE i5 Tray Sealer is an all-electric automatic inline tray sealing machine designed for high-throughput food packaging environments.
The machine heat-seals lidding film to trays manufactured from plastic, foil, or board materials. It is capable of sealing trays using standard seal-only applications or Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) where gas flushing is required.
The i5 is part of the MPE i-Series range and incorporates modern servo motion control, intelligent monitoring systems, and a recipe-driven control architecture.
The design philosophy behind the i-Series machines is to provide:
High reliability
Low maintenance operation
Energy efficiency
Fast product changeovers
Easy operator interaction
The machine integrates mechanical, electrical, and software systems to automate tray handling, sealing, and film cutting operations.

01.2 Machine purpose
The i5 tray sealer performs the following primary functions:
Accept trays from upstream production equipment.
Accurately space trays before sealing.
Transfer trays into the sealing station.
Seal film onto trays using heat and pressure.
Trim the film around the tray perimeter.
Discharge sealed packs to downstream equipment.
01.3 Machine summary
