12 Operation

1. Scope

Shared operating steps for i-Series tray sealers.

2. Description of operation (process overview)

Typical i-Series sequence:

  1. Trays enter the infeed conveyor.

  2. Trays are spaced to a set pitch.

  3. Transfer arms capture trays and move them into the seal station.

  4. Base tool lifts and locates trays.

  5. Heat and pressure seal film to the tray flange.

  6. Film is cut to the tool perimeter.

  7. Trays return to the conveyor and exit on the outfeed.

3. Pre-start checks

  1. Guards fitted and latched.

  2. Emergency stops reset.

  3. Tooling installed and secured.

  4. Film loaded and threaded.

  5. Gas/vacuum connected (if fitted) and within range.

  6. Area clear of foreign objects.

4. Start-up procedure (typical)

  1. Ensure the machine is safe and clear.

  2. Apply electrical power at the main isolator.

  3. Select machine mode on the HMI.

  4. Acknowledge any start-up messages.

  5. Perform a safety reset and allow axes to home.

  6. Load the required recipe.

  7. Confirm tooling is installed. Fit tooling if required.

  8. Confirm film is loaded. Fit film if required.

  9. Wait for sealing tool temperature to reach setpoint.

  10. Adjust infeed tray guides to suit the tray format.

  11. Press Start.

  12. Feed trays to the infeed conveyor.

5. Stop and shutdown

  1. Planned stop: press Stop and allow the machine to complete its cycle.

  2. Isolate gas/vacuum where required.

  3. Switch off power only after the machine has stopped safely.

6. Verification during production

  1. Inspect seal witness and adhesion at defined intervals.

  2. Confirm cut quality and film position.

  3. Monitor alarms and stop if repeated faults occur.
