i3 tooling types, change points, and setup notes.

1. Purpose

Machine-specific tooling guidance for the i3.

2. Tooling types

The tooling set typically includes:

  • Top tool (heated seal and cut assembly).

  • Base tool (tray location pockets and support).

  • Transfer arms (tray handling through the machine).

3. Tooling change notes

Use 05 Changeovers for the base method.

i3-specific notes:

  • The Change tool HMI function typically lowers/raises the top tool for access.

  • Top tools can be hot. Allow to cool before handling.

  • Cutting blades are sharp. Wear suitable gloves.

4. Setup parameters

Starting values when commissioning a new tool:

  • Seal time: 1.0 s (start point).

  • Seal temperature: 150 °C (start point).

Recipe items commonly adjusted on i3:

  • Number of impressions.

  • Tray position and tray pitch.

  • Film feed length.

  • Film tension.

  • Registered film enabled (true/false).

  • Printer installed (true/false).

  • Downstream equipment fitted (true/false).

5. Registered film (if fitted)

Registered film aligns print using a sensor and a black registration mark.

  • Ensure the sensor is clean and correctly positioned.

  • Use the film adjustment mechanism to shift print position.
